My Stance: First as Veteran I believed that my service to my Country (the people) centered around the Constitution of the United States and the civil rights that it contains. No other cause was more worthy to protect and defend. And now, my beliefs in this document leads me to serve my Country again. But in a different manner. Now I want to go to the core of were our biggest battles in preserving this country are being fought. In our own government. As a Congressman, I will stand until I have taken my last breath to protect and defend the Constitution and our Civil Rights.
First Amendment: The freedom of religion, speech and the press; rights of assembly and petition.
Second Amendment: A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
The second ammendment carries 3 seperate ideas....1) The Militia....2) Citizens to bear arms.....3) shall not be infringed. Those I believe are three distinctly different statements. I have heard many say the the right to bear arms is for the Militia....NO IT IS NOT!
Gun Control: We already have gun control. If you are a felon, you are not allowed to own guns. Automatic weapons are outlawed unless you have a special permit.
I am a gun owner, hunter and fisherman. I will stand for our right to do all three.
I support Gun safety for hunters…no one needs to be hurt or killed due to lack of common sense or education.
I support common sense approach to hunting. Hunt for and take what you need within the allotted season. It’s all about preservation/conservation.
