Retirement/Senior Citizens
1. Re-create a retirement process. To have a declaration age whereby a person can declare retirement and live comfortably on newly engineered types of retirement plans that can sustain us in our retired lives with respect.
2. Create retirement plans that protect a “fixed-income”. That is not entirely based upon a Company or the stock market. Perhaps one that is mixed between, IRA’s, Social Security and a Special Retirement U.S. Savings Bond. A plan we can create together that must be based on investing, stability and in ourselves and our own work.
3. Create a “No Tax” status for retirees; if you have a retirement plan and the declaration age for retirement is lets say, 55. You could retire at 55 and would not pay taxes on your IRA or Savings Bonds. Then when you reach the eligible age of Social Security, you can combine the two. You worked for it, you paid for it…..you deserve to live and enjoy the remainder of your life as comfortable as you can make it through your contributions to a retirement plan and your contribution to Social Security. This idea would be income based under the current tax structure.
4. Let the Retired maintain their assets. When a retired person needs to access Social Security or Medicaid I stand for allowing them keep their homes, money and other acquired assets. Why should the system force them to forfeit everything they have worked for when they paid their taxes to the system?
Retirement & Senior Citizens: Knowing that you had done the best you could with the life you had, paid your taxes and set the example of good citizenship do you not deserve to live and enjoy the rest of your life in dignity? At one time a person had the reasonable expectation to retire. Now, our retired and senior citizens live in survival mode. Many times competing with the younger workers for low paying jobs just to make ends meet. You deal with the typical challenges of becoming older but also the challenge of living in a Country where you now feel betrayed. Where shall the next meal is come from? How can I pay for my healthcare or my utilities? You find your taxation has brought you humiliation instead. Many are asked to give up their homes and money to be able to receive any relief through Medicaid and social security. I intend to fight for the dignity of our retired and senior citizens and to restore the practicality of retiring.
Let us stand one more time. Let us use our courage to rid this country of ignorance and restore it’s values that so many have died to preserve….let us bring home that victory that we shall have a country to leave to our children and one that will remember us for our bravery.
