SHARED PARENTING REFORM
As a father who had a Equal Parenting Plan, I can attest that this plan worked well for both parents and the children. If elected, I will support and pursue legislation that will reform the way the courts treat the breakup of families. It is apalling that the system uses families as a battleground to earn money as it is degrading to families, parents and impacts the children greatly.
Equal Parenting plans should be default plans for situations where there is no abuse and that the plan can be customized to lessen the impact of divorce on the children and the parents. Making it more civil and equal, of course, in case of possible abuse situations, it would be then expected that a appropiate plan would be enforced by the court.
As part of the mission statement of the Equal Parenting Party which can be found at equalparentingparty.org, I support their following statements:
1. The single best parent is both parents - respecting the equal rights of potential parents, parents of intact families, out-of-wedlock parents and post divorce parents will result in positive changes for our children.
2. We advocate for equal rights as well as obligations and responsibilities for all parents. When parents are treated equally there is greater incentive for cooperation and co-parenting for potential parents, parents of intact families, out-of-wedlock parents and post divorce parents.
No one can predict the future or events in life, but we can protect the children's life experience.
